Harry Styles Is Our Teacher Today

I was scrolling on social media and landed on a reel....where I lost myself for a moment watching Harry Styles perform Bridge Over Troubled Water with a full orchestra.

Somewhere in the middle of it, I had this thought I couldn't shake.

He didn't wake up one day with a new voice. He woke up with a new belief about what his voice was allowed to do. (stay with me here...it will all make sense in a minute...)

That's it. That's the whole shift. The talent was always there. The range was always there. What changed was the permission.

And here's why I'm telling you this. Because so many of us are living like Harry Styles in a boy band. Capable of so much more, but running on an old belief about what's possible for us. What we're allowed to want. What we're allowed to have. Who we're allowed to become.

The phrase that's working against you

We say it all the time. "I'll believe it when I see it."

It sounds smart. It sounds protective. Especially if you've been betrayed, or you've spent years abandoning yourself to keep the peace, that phrase feels like a protective shield. Why get your hopes up....

But here's what neuroscience tells us.

Your brain doesn't work that way. It works in the exact opposite direction.

You'll see it when you believe it.

There's a part of your brain called the reticular activating system, your RAS. Think of it as your brain's filter. Billions of bits of information are coming at you every second and your RAS decides what gets through. And what gets through is whatever matches what you already believe.

Believe good partners don't exist? Your brain will filter for the evidence. Believe you're someone who always gets left? Your brain will find the proof. Not because it's true. Because that's what the filter is set to.

This is why brain training, belief work, and identity work matter so much more than willpower ever will. You can't outwork a filter that's pointed at the wrong thing.

It's not a creation problem. It's an alignment problem.

This is the reframe I want you to sit with.

Most people think the life they want has to be built from nothing. The right relationship, the home, the version of themselves that feels free. They think it's a creation problem, so they hustle and force and exhaust themselves.

But the home already exists. The person already exists. The version of you that sings with the orchestra already exists.

You're just not tuned to it yet.

Manifestation isn't magic or magical thinking. It's alignment. It's retraining your brain to filter for what's possible instead of rehearsing what already happened.

And if you've been through betrayal, this matters even more, because staying anchored in the past keeps your filter locked on the past. Healing isn't just about processing what happened. It's about changing what your brain is looking for next.

I go deeper into all of this on A Changed Life Podcast. The Harry Styles story, how your RAS actually works, and the practical ways to start retuning your filter today, whether that's in your relationship, your healing, or the life you keep telling yourself is out of reach.
